Focused Research Project
Together, let’s research a branch of your family tree. We can identify one ancestor, one couple, one migration question, or one religious/community record problem. After research, findings are delivered in a written report that includes source citations and recommendations for future research when appropriate.
Polish & Great Lakes Family History
The Great Lakes region has a rich history of migration, religion, and ethnic settlement that often crossed state, national, and linguistic boundaries. This service is designed for families with roots in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and nearby Canadian communities. This research may include immigrant origins, parish records, surname variants, local history, and movement across state and international borders.
Religious Records Research
Choose this option for focusing specifically on parish, convent, sacramental, cemetery, and institutional records. This is good for: Polish Catholic families, sisters/nuns, parish movement, and hard-to-read records.
Genealogy Research Consultation
A genealogy research consultation is ideal for researchers who need guidance rather than a full research project. Together we can evaluate evidence, discuss research strategies, identify overlooked sources, and develop next steps. This service is particularly helpful for brick walls, conflicting evidence, or project planning.
Record Retrieval & Document Assistance
Do you already know what you need but want help finding, reading, translating, or citing it? I conduct in-person research at selected Philadelphia-area repositories and can assist with document retrieval, transcription, translation, report preparation, and Evidence Explained-style citations. I can translate documents from Latin, German, Spanish, and some Polish into English or Spanish.
Pricing
Projects are scoped individually after an initial consultation. Smaller projects may begin with a focused block of research time; larger projects receive a written estimate before work begins.
Typical Fees:
- Consultation (60 minutes): $75
- Focused research projects: most fall between $250 and $500
- Larger research projects: quoted individually
- Document assistance & record retrieval: beginning at $50
Certain services may require repository fees, document copies, parking, postage, or other direct expenses. These costs will be discussed and approved before work begins.
